Wildlife removal in Tampa

Something heavier than a rat walking across the ceiling, a torn soffit, a hole dug under the lanai: Tampa's wildlife is comfortable in the suburbs. Removing the animal is step one. Closing the way in, legally and for good, is the part that matters.

Wildlife problems we handle

  • Heavy thumping or walking sounds in the attic at night (raccoons) or at dawn (squirrels)
  • Torn or pushed-in soffit, roof vent or fascia
  • Cone-shaped holes dug in the lawn and beds overnight (armadillos)
  • Droppings piling up below a gable vent or under the eaves (bats)
  • An animal living under the deck, shed or lanai slab
  • A snake in the garage, pool cage or pump room

Wildlife in Tampa Bay

Raccoons, squirrels and opossums use the same routes roof rats do: oak limbs and palm fronds over the roof, soffit gaps and vents. Spring is the busiest season, when females look for a place to have young, and a raccoon can peel back a soffit panel in one night. Florida protects bats during their maternity season, which runs from spring and summer, and excluding them in that window is illegal, so bat work is scheduled around it. Armadillos are after mole crickets and grubs in sandy Tampa lawns; see lawn pest control for the food-source side of that problem.

Common questions

Do you relocate the animals?

Florida rules limit where and whether certain animals can be relocated. The technician follows the FWC requirements for the species involved and will explain the plan before trapping starts.

There's a raccoon in my attic. How fast can you come?

Wildlife calls are scheduled quickly, usually within a day or two. In spring, assume there may be babies and tell the technician if you've heard chittering.

Can you get rid of the bats now?

Outside maternity season, yes, with one-way exclusion devices. During it, the entry points are documented and the exclusion is scheduled for when it's allowed.

Will homeowners insurance cover the damage?

Some policies cover sudden animal damage and most exclude rodents. It depends on your policy; the inspection report and photos help with a claim.
